I am a biologist interested in how animals move, catch prey, and evade predators. My research is integrative, and has helped us learn how squid swim (M.S. with Ian Bartol, ODU), how fish escape predators (Ph.D. with Matt McHenry, UC Irvine), and how geckos cling (postdoc with Tim Higham, UC Riverside). I'm now studying how fish detect tiny movements of water around their bodies (postdoc with Jimmy Liao, UF).    My future plans are to lead a small group that executes comparative research, mentor young scientists, and inspire new students.
